Loan/Lease Payoff vs. ACV Gap Calculator

Enter your loan or lease payoff amount and your total-loss settlement amount to see the exact dollar gap between them — then check it against the common GAP-exclusion categories from the companion guide before you assume GAP insurance will cover it.

Not the same as your settlement check breakdown. That tool shows how ACV becomes a check amount. This tool starts from whatever settlement number you already have and compares it to what you still owe — a different, later question. See What Happens to Your Loan or Lease After a Total Loss for what GAP is and isn't.

Check Your Gap

U.S. dollars, from your lender or leasing company. Example: 22000.

U.S. dollars — your ACV settlement, after any deductible. Example: 18000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the Settlement Check Breakdown calculator?

No. That tool shows how your ACV becomes a check amount — ACV minus deductible, minus any liens. This tool takes the next step: it compares that settlement number to what you still owe your lender, so you know whether a gap exists at all before checking your GAP certificate.

Does this tool tell me if GAP insurance will cover my shortfall?

No, and it can't — whether GAP pays, and how much, depends entirely on your specific certificate's terms and exclusions, which this site has no way to know. This tool only computes the raw dollar gap and shows you the common exclusion categories to check your own paperwork against.

What if the settlement is bigger than my payoff?

Then there's no gap — you'd actually have equity left over after paying off the loan or lease, not a shortfall. The tool will tell you this directly rather than showing a confusing negative number.

Where does the exclusions checklist come from?

The same list published in What Happens to Your Loan or Lease After a Total Loss (GAP Insurance Explained), sourced from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It describes common patterns across GAP products generally, not your specific policy's actual terms.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. Every number you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted to or stored on any server operated by this site.
